Welcome to Jacmel, artistic capital of Haiti! Renowned for its art and papier-mâché sculptures, each year Jacmel attracts more and more visitors, especially during the annual carnival.
Jacmel is also the place of origin of several painters and poets, whose essence of their work come from this city full of history.
Founded in 1868 by French settlers, you will find in the streets of Jacmel colorful buildings and wrought iron balconies with typical architecture of colonial times. If Jacmel takes you back in time, the surroundings of the city are just as magical.
Palm trees, coconut palms, turquoise waters and good vibes: this is the promise of Jacmel.

Your itinerary
Day 1: Discovery of Jacmel + Lakou NY
You cannot understand Haiti without knowing more about its History. A day will Therefore, you will begin your day with a historic City Tour with our local partner.
Our guide will take you back in time to explain what makes Jacmel so charming.
Through the colorful streets and colonial buildings of the city, you will also be able to discover where comes the artistic fame of Jacmel. There are also plenty art and decoration shops, but also art galleries where you can contemplate paintings and sculptures.
We invite you to continue your visit, this time culinary, during a local meal around you will be able to appreciate the richness of Haitian gastronomy.
Your day will continue strolling along Lakou New York with its beautiful boardwalk, with mosaics on the ground. It’s a very nice place where you can listen to music or just watch a beautiful sunset by the sea.

Day 2: Discovery of the Coffee Route + Ti Mouillage beach
After a rich local breakfast, you will head to the discovery of the Coffee Route.
This is in the town of Marigot, where this trail begins and promises to make you live a memorable experience.
Whether you are a coffee lover or not, this tour will make you discover the whole process of coffee production. From harvest to roasting, Haitian coffee will hold no secrets for you!
Haitians drink their coffee very dark and very sweet, but you have to be used to it! You can of course drink yours according to your drinking habits.
It is with the association APKF (Association of Coffee Planters of Jean-Noël Fund) that you will have this delicious time.
After a good meal, we take you to spend the rest of the day at Ti Mouillage beach where you can refresh and relax on this beautiful beach lined with coconut palms.

Day 3: Ogé Fort + Bassin Bleu
Impossible to go to Jacmel without taking a tour of Bassin Bleu (Blue Basin) which is really the must-see place of the region!
It is in the middle of a lush forest that you will discover this natural site composed of 3 natural pools
with turquoise waters. Large waterfalls connect the different pools making this place so special.
On the path that leading you to the Bassin Bleu site, you will cross several fruit and vegetable plantations that will give you an idea of what farmers grow of the region.
Then we will take the road to discover Fort Ogé which is part of the defense system the Haitian military set up after the independence of Haiti, against a possible return of the French.
After visiting this fort, you can rest and simply enjoy the magnificent view of Jacmel Bay before returning to the guest house.

Day 4: Moulin Price Tour + Raymond les Bains beach
Today, we invite you to discover the Moulin Price which is one of the very first steam engines especially used for the manufacture of cane sugar. Located in Bas Cap-Rouge in the Jacmel region, it is the oldest furnace of the country!
After this visit, we will head to Ti Mouillage beach, one of the most beautiful beaches of the region. This is where you will have lunch, by the beach!
We will offer you a good selection of freshly caught seafood. For vegetarians or those who prefer meat, other local dishes will also be offered.
During this relaxing afternoon, you can walk along the beach, go swimming or simply dance to the rhythm of kompa (traditional Haitian music).
If you want a little more calm, no problem, just walk away a little …

Day 4: Painting & papier mache workshop + City walk
Get your brushes! To end your stay in Jacmel, we suggest you take a painting course or paper mache sculpture (depending on availability) at a local art school!
This initiation to Haitian art will allow you to understand the techniques of the artists who make the fame of the city. Now is the time to express your artistic talents!
After the workshop, we’ll take you to lunch at a good restaurant in town where you can continue eat local or opt for a slightly more continental cuisine.
You will continue your day strolling through the artistic district of the city. It will be the opportunity to buy some souvenirs and enjoy your last day at Jacmel.

Rudolf Derose – The Coffee Route: Jean-Noël Fund Coffee Planters Association
This group of promoters led by Rudolf Dérose is part of the dynamics of community rural tourism as an instrument for sustainable development. Their objectives: to draw the attention of the communities where coffee is produced to the positive effects of its culture, and to promote the land by attracting investors to redo the coffee plantations, most of which are in the process of disappearing.
A meeting with Rudolf is the best way to understand how investing in coffee can generate wealth by promoting history, culture, gastronomy, crafts, communities and their talents.
Joe Duplan / Ti Kay bo lan mè
This owner of a guest house in Cyvadier – Jacmel started a production activity of a traditional oven using recycled fuels. With the School of the city he does training for young people for the manufacture and marketing of these ovens, but also awareness sessions on the production of charcoal based on recovered products (eg coconut) to curb deforestation .

Polyana Domont – Bed & Breakfast
Polyana is recognized in the city as the queen of recycling. His establishment was built entirely from recovery product but his specialty remains the bottle and the tires.
Its tires are famous for becoming birds, exotic animals and even a mini motorbike for children!
A meeting with Polyana is the best way to understand how we go from recovering materials to producing psychedelic works of art.
Jhwins Lamitie – Jacmel Arts Center
The Jacmel Arts Center was established in January 2017 as an inclusive space to support the exhibition, education, and production of the arts in Jacmel. It grew out of a collective movement of artists that had been working together under the name FOSAJ since 2003. These artists united together in an effort to reinvent themselves and to breathe new life into the once vibrant arts scene of the city.
