It’s with a twoubadou sound that your trip to Haiti begins, straight in the tropical atmosphere of the Caribbean. Nou Pati Nou pati ! (Let’s go!)

This tour will allow you to explore the hidden face of the Pearl of the Caribbean, by discovering the green mountains in the West of the country, through hikes leading to the South coasts, and crisscrossing the South East road. You will have the chance to meet during this route, all the local actors responsible for the development.

Your itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Port-au-Prince airport + Welcome drink + Port-au-Prince by night

Colorful buses, street vendors, street food: Welcome to Port-au-Prince!

Your driver will pick you up from the airport to drive you to a guesthouse / hotel in Port-au-Prince.

PAP’PAPDAP! Travels offers you a welcome cocktail! This will be an opportunity to get to know each other better and brief you on what’s next for your stay.

The Port-au-Prince by night walk will introduce you to the famous local music.

After that, Kompa, Gouyad, and Raboday musics  will have no more secrets for you!

Day 2: Wynne Farm Ecological Reserve + Fort Jacques & Fort Alexandre

Heading  to Kenscoff to discover the Wynne Farm Ecological Reserve, which is dedicated for over 50 years in protecting the environment through education! You will discover the different activities of agroforestry and will participate in a workshop for making objects from recycled materials.

Then, you will discover Fort Jacques and Fort Alexandre, which were one of the fortifications of the Haitian defensive system to prevent a possible return of the French.

You will learn more about the history of the first independent black nation.

We end the day in Furcy, a city renowned for its pine forest and green mountains.

The higher you get, the more the climate will start to cool. Remember to bring warm clothes, the nights are cool!
Our guide will take the opportunity to take you to one of the best spots to watch the sunset.

Day 3: Hike Blue basin Furcy + Village Furcy

Far from the folklore of the capital, this stage in your journey will allow you to explore the arteries of Haiti’s lung: the Furcy Mountains. Through the pine forests, PAP’PADAP! Travels takes you to discover an impressive diversity of plantations that will make you feel like you are in an open air market!

During a hike to the Blue Basin waterfall, you will be able to see the country’s highest point on the horizon: Pic la Selle at an altitude of 2,680 m.
You will end your day with a horse ride, or on foot to continue enjoying the magnificent mountainous landscape of the country.

Day 4: Arrival to Jacmel + Visit artists center town + Jacmel by night

Departure for the warmth of the coasts towards Jacmel, artistic capital of the country! On the way you will already feel the temperature rise and the sea air will cool you down.

You will be staying in a guest house where we will be happy to cook you traditional dishes. Located in the bay of Jacmel, you can relax and admire an exceptional sea view.

In the afternoon, PAP’PADAP! Travels will invite you to explore Jacmel on a historic and artistic tour. You will be able to see the ’papier-maché ‘ sculptures which make Jacmel’s reputation during his annual carnival. A refreshment break will always be welcome, even more appreciated at the charming Hotel Florita which is one of the oldest hotels in the city.

You will end the day with a stroll along the NY courtyard, very animated by troubadour groups.

Day 5: Jacmel Blue Basin Waterfall + Ti Anchorage Beach

Put on your swimsuit, PAP’PADAP! Travels takes you on an excursion to the Blue Basin, which is a very famous tourist spot in the country. The road that leads to the waterfall offers breathtaking views of the bay of Jacmel. It is not very easy to access, but a great reward will await: a magnificent landscape. Our guide will explain the history of this must-see site.

In the second part of the day, you will relax in the area of Ti Mouillage which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the region. Let yourself be tempted by some grilled sea food for the appetizer and why not enjoy a cocktail under a palm tree overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Day 6: Arrival in Les Cayes + Visit to the city center + Plage Gelée

Departure for the southern region, Les Cayes, where the locals are nationally renowned for their kindness.

The locals will tell you that you didn’t go to Les Cayes if you didn’t go to Gelée! Indeed, Gelée is a very famous seaside resort.

It is the largest beach in the country, so there is something for everyone!

After the long journey made during the day, PAP’PADAP! Travels invites you to relax quietly during a stroll around the city to discover its typical post-colonial architecture.

Day 7: Les Cayes botanical garden + Cascade Saut Mathurine

In the morning, PAP’PAPADAP! Travels will take  you to discover The Botanical Garden of Les Cayes. During this visit, our guide will make you discover the different ethnobotanical gardens, ecological, and many more. A visit that promises to be very flowery and colorful!

In the afternoon, you will explore Saut Mathurine, a magnificent waterfall in the middle of a lush forest.

The bravest can venture to take a little height to jump into the waterfall. Besides, our guide will be able to show you the different spots on the site and the divers will be happy to show you their talents.

Day 8: Arrival in Léogâne + Visit downtown

You will take the road to the West department towards Gressier. After a long drive, you will be able to relax in the guesthouse.

PAP’PADAP! Travels then takes you to visit the Maréchal district for an immersion in this village, to meet local producers and understand the lifestyle of the Gressier community.

You will discover the statue of Princess Anacaona which continues to reign on the Place de Leogane. Renowned for her beauty and intelligence, Princess Anacaona has fought against the invasion of the colonists. Our guide will be happy to retrace her story with you.

Day 9: Anacaona cave hike + Departure party

You will follow in the footsteps of Princess Anacaona on a hike that will take you to the cave where she sent her people to hide before she was captured by the Spanish colonists. 

Our guide will explain in detail the story of the reign of the princess who represents a symbol of resistance and emblem for the town.

The afternoon will allow you to take advantage of your last moments in Gressier to rest and enjoy your immersion until the end. You will enjoy the last evening by the rhythm of kompa, which is the typical Haitian music, while tasting some fritay or traditional dishes.

Day 10: Departure Port-au-Prince Airport

It’s time to say goodbye to Haiti! Departure for Port-au-Prince Airport.

Airport transfers, those to your accommodation and during the activities will be carried out either by 4×4 vehicles, Pap padap minivan/buses, or traditional tap tap depending on the size of the group, the type of road in the areas visited and the availability of vehicles from our local partners.

Wynne Farm Ecological Reserve

This ecological farm in Kenscoff has been dedicated to protect the environment through education for over 50 years! Thanks to agroforestry, the underground water naturally stored underground feeds the village’s water sources. This model makes it possible to supply water to the whole community! Through a guided tour, PAP’PADAP! Travels will make you discover the different activities of the Wynn Farm Ecological Reserve.

Joe Duplan / Ti Kay bo lan mè

This owner of a guest house in Cyvadier – Jacmel started a production activity of a traditional oven using recycled fuels. With the School of the city he does training for young people for the manufacture and marketing of these ovens, but also awareness sessions on the production of charcoal based on recovered products (eg coconut) to curb deforestation .

A meeting with Joe is the best way to understand and participate in economic recovery by preserving the environment

Polyana Domont – Bed & Breakfast

Polyana is recognized in the city as the queen of recycling. His establishment was built entirely from recovery product but his specialty remains the bottle and the tires.

Its tires are famous for becoming birds, exotic animals and even a mini motorbike for children!
